Scary Halloween Edition: Marketing Scares Us Sh!tless

Listen to this Post!

We are diving into a hot topic today! You know me, I want to research everything so I find myself asking lots of questions of my entrepreneur friends + clients. I can almost guarantee that when I ask them, 'what's your biggest challenge?' Every one of them puts marketing as one of their top three answers.

It seems that everyone needs help with {and pretty much hates} marketing. They struggle with that fine line of getting their message and work out into the world + being the sleazy used car salesman that bombards you with 'BUY ME' emails 24/7. So, consequentially, we feel we have to do ALL the marketing things, which is daunting... and fucking stupid.

Work smarter, not harder

Social media {I'm addicted to Instagram shopping}, blogs, flyers, websites and keeping up with the latest + greatest marketing trends is exhausting and a total pain in the ass. Who wants to keep up with all of this stuff? And where does that leave room to plan for happy hour with your BFF? Spending happy hour looking at my phone is not my idea of a good time. If you are like me, you like things simplified, streamlined + tied up in a pretty little bow.

Since Halloween is only a few days away, here are 3 simple marketing treats to keep you from getting tricked:

Treat #1: Pick ONE! Focus on just one platform or thing that you are good at, where your audience is hanging out and that you enjoy. Trust me this will make your life so much easier and streamlined, meaning you won't be the headless horseman for Halloween this year.

Treat #2: Create an automated marketing funnel. This sounds more complicated then it is, but hear me out on this one. We all know that you need to nurture your audience. Create a sequence of emails that lead them through what working with you looks like. Give them your opt-in, a few of your best blog posts and ask them questions. Then set it up in an automated email series. Bada bing, bada boom, done.

Treat #3: If you can't or don't want to do it then hire someone to do it for you. I have a philosophy that you have 3 choices for doing stuff: do nothing at all, figure it out and do it yourself or hire someone to do it for you. If you really hate marketing that much and just can't seem to figure it out, find someone to do it for you. If budget is of concern, check out Fiverr or Upwork for contractors.

Marketing isn't all that hard. We make it hard. Strip it down to the basics then pick what works + double down on it. What are some of your marketing tricks {or treats} that make it all less scary? And if you are drawing a blank leave me a photo of cute kittens and/or puppies. If all else fails cute kittens + puppies can sell anything.
